Who We Are 

Sarah Nelson

Sarah has over 10 years of experience in campaign disclosure compliance assisting statewide groups, county board candidates, independent expenditure committees and almost everything in-between. Sarah has also assisted campaigns navigate the Illinois State Board of Elections audit process, organize events, and reconcile past compliance issues. She understands that small campaigns can be tripped up by compliance just as easily as large ones and is eager to put her experience to work for you. Sarah grew up in southern Illinois and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2007. After working in the campaign world for nearly 8 years, she earned a Master’s of Science in Accounting from Loyola University Chicago in 2015 and passed the CPA exam in 2016.  She currently lives in Chicago with her husband and young son.

Emily Wurth

Emily has over 15 years experience around political campaigns, with the last 10 focused on campaign compliance, budgeting and finance. She served as Chief Financial Officer for the Democratic Party of Illinois, Democratic Majority and Friends of Michael J. Madigan, as well as managing budgets and compliance for a 501(c)3 nonprofit and 501(c)4 advocacy organization. She has tracked and disclosed millions of dollars in donations and expenditures and managed multiple budgets and cash flow operations during election cycles. She knows firsthand that having trusted compliance and financial management staff ensures candidates and committees are proactively anticipating and addressing issues, reducing the overall compliance burden. Emily grew up in southern Illinois and obtained her Bachelors of Arts Degree from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN in 2008. She is currently enrolled in the Weekend JD program at Loyola Chicago Law School. She lives in Chicago with her husband and young son and daughter.

GRAINNE MAHONEY

Grainne Mahoney is the newest addition to our team.  She has several years of experience in campaign disclosure working with various statewide and local candidates.  In addition to assisting with campaign filings, she works closely with the Illinois Legislature, and has worked and volunteered on numerous local and statewide campaigns and in development for Springfield not for profits.  She grew up in Peoria, Illinois and currently resides in Springfield with her husband and their four children.
